René Martin
René, born in Havana, Cuba, in 1960, has resided in Mexico since 1995. He studied architecture and graphic design, then pursued sculpture and painting at the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts in Havana, starting in 1985. His artistic journey began with his first solo exhibition in 1985, leading to a total of 37 exhibitions across Cuba, the United States, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
Initially focusing on landscapes until 1995, his work later transitioned to surreal or "tropical-surrealist" themes, featuring whimsical tropical landscapes. René aims to promote landscape conservation with humor, utilizing metaphor and symbolism in his oil or acrylic on canvas paintings, characterized by vibrant tropical colors encouraging viewer interaction and interpretation.
